Dr. Stephanie Phillips
Dr Stephanie Phillips was born and raised in Maryland. She grew up in rural Frederick
County and while working on local farms dreamed of becoming a veterinarian.
She completed her undergraduate degree in Animal Science as well as her Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University, then a rotating Small Animal Internship at the
University of Minnesota and a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at Cornell
University.
She has extensive experience as a small animal internist. Her career started as an
associate in a multi-specialty hospital in Ohio. After starting a family, she returned to
Maryland to be close to her family. First, she opened a single specialty Internal Medicine
practice that was co-located with other practices and later she founded and managed
a multi-specialty and emergency hospital with a partner. In 2020 she took a sabbatical
from clinical practice and earned a Masters of Public Health. Over the last few years, she
has been working in multiple large multi-specialty hospitals as a traveling, relief, and
locum.
Dr Phillips enjoys many aspects of Internal Medicine including gastroenterology, renal
diseases, immune-mediated conditions, and complex case management as well as
diagnostic procedures such as ultrasound, endoscopy, biopsies, and bone marrow
aspirates.
She is excited to join MOVES and help increase the availability and accessibility of
Internal Medicine. She believes strongly in helping to remove barriers to specialty
medicine and working collaboratively with primary care veterinarians and clients to
complete efficient diagnostics and create effective treatment plans.
When not at work Dr Phillips likes to spend time with her husband, children, family, and
friends. She has two dogs (James Tucker, Joanie Buttons) and one cat (Juliet); all
rescued with medical issues to manage.
