Fear Free Approach

Petvacx strives to provide the best clinic experience for both our furry friends and pet parents. We are dedicated to providing an exceptional stress free visit and promote use of rewards and techniques to ensure future assimilation of happy feelings when it comes to vet visits for your fur babies! "Fear free" is the concept of practicing veterinary medicine that involves the reduction of feelings of stress in our patients which in return will result in a better experience for all involved — including pets, owners, and the veterinary team. Upon arrival our client care specialists will offer your pets either a Feliway sprayed blanket to place over your cats carrier or an adorable printed bandana sprayed with ThunderEase (previously Adaptil) to place on your dogs collar. The phermones sprayed on your pets blanket and bandana will start working while your waiting in the lobby to be called into the exam room. Once the patient is in our exam rooms our Fear Free certified vet assistants and technicians will work with each individual patient to find the best techniques to ensure a successful visit. We are proud to have all of our doctors Fear Free certified and eager to work with each family and patient to ensure their needs are met and their medical care runs smoothly. Our office is dedicated to the Fear Free approach and we are actively working on become Fear Free certified as a practice (stay tuned)!

For New Clients: What To Expect

As a new client of our veterinary hospital you can expect our full attention to your pet’s needs and a dedicated team eager to help your fur baby whether if its your first time visiting us for a routine wellness check and vaccines or for a sick visit, we are delighted you chose us as your veterinary home.
When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly by our team of client care coordinators and our vet assistants/technicians will escort you into an examination room after checking in your pet.
In most cases, one of our veterinary assistants/technicians will start by asking about your pet’s medical history, current condition and the reason for your visit, gathering data for the doctor. We also provide online pre-visit questionnaires ahead of time via our text appointment reminders to allow pet parents to come in to their visit with those answers beforehand if that is your preference.
One of our veterinarians will then examine your pet, ask you further questions and may recommend diagnostic tests if needed. Once the tests have been run, your doctor will discuss a possible diagnosis and treatment plan if warranted. We strive to work together with our pet parents to ensure we are meeting your financial goals and achieving the best outcome for the patient.
During your visit with the veterinarian this is a great time to ask questions! Our veterinary team wants to make sure you’re completely comfortable with the information we’re providing and if any clarification is needed we encourage asking questions/ or asking for resources which we are happy to provide.
After meeting with the veterinarian, our veterinary assistant/technician will assist with the discharge process and provide you with helpful pet care information and answer any wellness and care questions you may have. Our client care coordinators will process your payment and schedule any needed follow-up appointments.

Our goal is to see all our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible and communicate frequently when these situations arise.

We are excited to meet you and your fur babies!

Feliway

Feliway mimics the natural facial pheromone that cats use to mark their territory as safe. Going to the vet can be very stressful for cats: the carrier, the car ride, the exam and clinic sounds. Feliway help to alleviate signs of stress and anxiety associated with veterinary visits and travel.

Adaptil

ThunderEase (previously Adaptil) mimics the natural canine phermones to help dogs feel the same safety and security in their surroundings and with their owners, as they did with their mother. It provides dogs with calming reassuraance and comfort in stressful situations, reducing signs of fear and anxiety.
